Raha Bahreini is an Iranian-Canadian human rights lawyer and advocate.  She obtained her LLM in International Human Rights Law from University of Essex , her J.D. from Osgoode Hall Law School, York University, and her bachelor in Women and Gender Studies from the University of Toronto. Before joining Amnesty International Secretariat as its Iran researcher, she worked at Amnesty International Canada and was a senior researcher at the Human Rights in Iran Unit at the University of Essex where she assisted the work of the UN Special Rapporteur on the Situation of Human Rights in Iran. Bahreini’s research and advocacy work has focused on a wide range of human rights issues including the death penalty, civil and political rights, right to health, discrimination against women and minorities, gender identity and sexual orientation rights, and transitional justice.
